9 folks have been injured after 43 vehicles have been concerned in a pileup on an icy freeway close to a junction in Goyang, simply north of Seoul, officers mentioned Tuesday.
The accident occurred at 5:50 a.m. on the Seoul Munsan Expressway headed for Munsan, leaving 9 drivers hospitalized.
Police and firefighting authorities have cordoned off the street to deal with the accident.
„The pileup occurred as a result of black ice, and it led to different single accidents in trailing automobiles, severely congesting the street,“ a police official mentioned.
One other sequence of pileups involving 44 vans, buses and vehicles occurred at 5:15 a.m. on a freeway close to Gusan Interchange in Goyang, headed for Paju.
They included 4 6-car pileups, one 3-car pileup and 6 2-car pileups.
A 16-ton truck driver was taken to a hospital with minor accidents, whereas the opposite drivers sustained abrasions.
Authorities blocked off whole roads close to the accident space and scattered calcium chloride on icy roads.
In the meantime, seven vehicles collided with one another on a street in Gimpo, simply west of Seoul, at 5:30 a.m., injuring two drivers, who have been later handled at a hospital.
