The Korean historic drama movie „Harbin“ has been bought to 117 international locations, its distributor mentioned Wednesday.

„It’s significant in that the film with a distinctly Korean narrative achieved profitable worldwide gross sales,“ CJ ENM mentioned in a press launch.

The film has already premiered in a number of markets, together with the USA, Singapore and Indonesia, with releases scheduled in Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan later this month.

The distributor attributed the robust world curiosity to a number of elements: director Woo Min-ho’s popularity, the attraction of its star-studded solid led by Hyun Bin, and the movie’s essential recognition at prestigious occasions just like the Toronto Worldwide Movie Pageant.

Since its Korean premiere on Dec. 24, the movie has up to now attracted over 3.77 million viewers.

Set in 1909, „Harbin“ tells the story of a gaggle of Korean independence fighters, led by Ahn Jung-geun (1879-1910), as they plot to assassinate Ito Hirobumi, Japan’s first prime minister and resident-general of Korea, at Harbin Station in northern China. Korea was below brutal Japanese colonial rule from 1910 to 1945. (Yonhap)
