The Navy stated Tuesday it performed maritime drills geared toward curbing weapons of mass destruction (WMD) proliferation in connection to an ongoing main South Korea-U.S. navy train.
The WMD interdiction train befell in waters off the southwestern island of Gageodo, mobilizing three warships, together with the ROKS Jeonbuk frigate, together with Navy particular forces and a coast guard vessel, a day after the allies launched the annual Freedom Protect train.
The maritime drills centered on detecting and seizing a vessel suspected of carrying cargo linked to WMD proliferation, with particular forces boarding the ship by fast-roping from a UH-60 helicopter, in line with the Navy.
South Korea’s navy has sought to bolster its capabilities towards WMD threats amid North Korea’s continued push to advance its nuclear and missile packages.
Individually, the Navy’s Second Fleet, accountable for defending the western coast and the West Sea, staged protection drills Tuesday for the western port of Pyeongtaek-Dangjin.
The drills concerned Military troops, police and coast guard personnel to coach on response procedures for aerial, chemical, organic and radiological threats towards the port’s worldwide terminal, in line with the Navy.
